Gluten Free Char Sui pork belly

Gluten Free Char sui pork belly

This recipe was made for Chinese new year, we had some great sides with this and it was enough to feed two people.

Ingredients to boil the pork belly:

1ltr of Coca cola

1tbsp of ginger

1tbsp of garlic

Ingredients for Char Sui pork Belly:

500g of pork belly

3tbsp of brown sugar

3tbsp of GF soy sauce or tamari

3tbsp of sweet chilli sauce

1tbsp of garlic powder

2tbsp of Chinese five spice

2tsp of red dye

Method:

To begin with pour the coca cola, ginger and garlic in to a medium sized saucepan and place the pork belly in. Cook at a medium head for 20 minutes.

After 20 minutes take the pork belly out and leave to cool. Whilst you are waiting you can make the marinade.

For the marinade add all the ingredients into a resealable bag and mix well.

Once the pork has been marinaded place in the oven in a roasting tin at 180c for an initial 20 minutes. After 20 minutes add 100ml of coca cola to the pan to stop it from sticking. Cook for another 20 minutes and then your pork belly should be cooked.

We had ours with crispy kale and prawn toast ( link here) https://laralousfood.com/gluten-free-prawn-toast/
