Gluten Free beef and broccoli

Gluten Free beef and broccoli

This recipe was requested at one of our dinner parties and we had not tried it before, so we thought we would give it a try. The beef and broccoli was the most popular recipe, to the point that we did not get any.

Ingredients:

700g of diced beef

1 lime

80ml of tamari

200ml of beef stock

4 garlic cloves

3tbsp of brown sugar

3tbsp of sweet chilli sauce

2tbsp of Chinese five spice

1 thumb size of ginger

2 broccoli heads

Methods:

For the marinade add the soy sauce, lime juice, brown sugar, and cornstarch into a mixing bowl and then mix together until combined.

Once the mixture is combined add the steak, season with salt and pepper and then marinate for 20 minutes.

In a large saucepan place on a medium-high heat and heat a tbsp of cooking oil. Once the cooking oil is hot add the beef with the marinade and braise for 2-3 minutes or until brown. Once all the steak is browned put to one side.

In the same pan that you cooked the beef in stir the garlic and ginger for 1 minute ( you should still have some of the marinade mixture in the saucepan).

Once the garlic and ginger has been cooking for one minute add the remaining 1 tablespoon cornstarch, the beef and then stir in the beef stock and then add the sweet chilli and five spice.

Once all ingredients apart from the broccoli are in the saucepan place in the oven in an oven proof dish with a lid for 40 minutes.

After 40 minutes add the broccoli to the dish and place the lid back on and cook for enough 10 minutes.

Once cooked plate up and serve with rice.
